Shakshouka Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4–5 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 eggs
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro
  • Pita bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper and cook until soft.
  3. Add garlic, paprika, cumin, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add tomatoes and simmer until the sauce thickens.
  5. Make small wells in the sauce and crack eggs into them.
  6. Cover and cook until egg whites are set.
  7. Garnish with parsley or cilantro.
  8. Serve hot with pita bread.

Tip: Add feta cheese for extra flavor.
