Shakshouka Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4–5 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 eggs
- Fresh parsley or cilantro
- Pita bread for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add onion and bell pepper and cook until soft.
- Add garlic, paprika, cumin, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Add tomatoes and simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Make small wells in the sauce and crack eggs into them.
- Cover and cook until egg whites are set.
- Garnish with parsley or cilantro.
- Serve hot with pita bread.
Tip: Add feta cheese for extra flavor.
